Crail Heritage Walk

Downies Terrace

The railway reached Crail in 1883 and Downies Terrace is an example of one of the ways in which this affected the local economy.

Farmer Downie of Balcomie had this terrace built as holiday homes for Victorian holiday makers.

Continue along Nethergate as it widens out.

Nethergate was one of three sites used for markets in Crail in the Middle Ages - Marketgate, High Street and Nethergate.
